Costume Information
Back in the summer of 2011, I wanted to make a Power Rangers dress because I happen to be a big Power Rangers fan who had never made a Power Rangers-related costume. I was thinking about making a cute little sundress out of fabric with Power Rangers printed on it and maybe wear go go boots with it. When I told my friend Kevin about this idea, he said, "So what you're saying is that you want to be a Go Go Power Ranger?" The pun was terrible yet also somehow inspiring.
I decide I actually wanted to make a Power Rangers go go dress and scraped my original sundress plan. I found a vintage pattern for a go go dress from the 1960s and altered it until it fit me. Then I added diamonds to the front and back of the design to make the dress look like it came from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I made the dress out of pink satin. I was originally going to make a yellow dress, but the yellow fabric I found was transparent, so I went with pink. On retrospect, I think I should've made red, but pink/Kimberly is cool so it's not like I regret the colour choice or anything.
I paired this dress with thigh-high white go go boots and carried around Power Rangers toys as props.
Yes, this was a lot of work for terrible pun. LOL.
